Sheffield is a city in south yorkshire that boasts a population of of 525 800. in recent years, Sheffield has been massively redeveloped and now boasts some beautiful fashionable buildings, containing the Millennium Galleries.

Unlike many enormous cities, sheffield is geographically diverse. it is located at the confluence of 5 rivers and most of the city is built on hills with views of the city centre or out to the country side. boasting an estimated 2 million trees, Sheffield boasts more trees per person than any other european city. Sheffield achieved worldwide fame throughout the 19th century for its production of steel. in actual fact, most innovations in the steel industry were conceived in sheffield, including crucible (now the name of one of the city's theatres) & stainless steel. inspite of the cost, competition from other countries caused a decline in these popular local industries during the seventies & eighties. at this time, the national coal industry collapsed nearby, which caused huge unemployment & affected Sheffield's population.

Recently, Sheffield's economy has recovered &, thanks to its booming music & film scene, its become well-known as a cultural hub.
